Re: Backcountry Fitness Challenge 2008 Check-in
Yep. Today is the day for checking in.
I missed out again this week, no point for me.
I will update everyone's weight after the next check in.

good. Marathon training. Diet went well. More of a lifestyle now. do you need my weight? I'm down to 187 lbs. (if you need it)
Re: Backcountry Fitness Challenge 2008 Check-in
Hey guys, be sure to include your weight change up to now for the challenge. It would be helpful if you included your starting weight as well.
BTW, I was traveling this week so I failed. Again. (BOOOOOO!)

Re: Backcountry Fitness Challenge 2008 Check-in
Well.. I guess I did good for half the week.. so thats a half credit... but according to the rules per Jay anyone hiking would get a instant credit... so Rodger er Colt and myself just got in from the weekend... ended up doing somewhere around 15 miles.. Colt is hurting right now so he may not check in lol.

Re: Backcountry Fitness Challenge 2008 Check-in
I have had a lot of eating meetings lately, I have still been good, just not as good as I would like. My starting weight was 230, and now I am at 213, so 17 pounds iin 3 1/2 weeks isn't so bad I guess. I just wish that I could go hiking more, but sadly today I have to shovel mulch (at least it is something )

Re: Backcountry Fitness Challenge 2008 Check-in
Whoooo hooooo I lost 3 pounds this week, putting me in a 210, that's 20 pounds overall. I have really been watching what I am eating and how much. Its a good thing I like bran cereal, I get all my daily fiber needs in one bowl. The fiber really helps with me not feeling hungry, and of course other things .
If my math is right that puts me at a total percentage lost of 8.7% , I am slowing sneaking up on Eddie hahahahaa

Re: Backcountry Fitness Challenge 2008 Check-in
I was hiking this week, so I get my point. I also lost a little bit of weight, but I had GAINED weight before now, so I don't think it counts for much!
Re: Backcountry Fitness Challenge 2008 Check-in
Well can't say that I had any exercise for the week except this Sat. I, and Janet and Jay, hiked aprox. 11 or more miles in 12 hours and worked 8 of those hours on the trail including cutting out three blow downs! That should count for something and I do feel that I lost weight.
Just to add that I haven't been checking in and had thought about dropping out but have since had problems with my blood pressure. Am on meds now. This past Sat. hike helped me loose some more weight. I had gained weight but now am down to 244. I am going to stick with this and get of the meds.

Did 36+ miles on the BRT this week. That's a pretty good workout.

Re: Backcountry Fitness Challenge 2008 Check-in
I told Ouachita Hiker that since I make the rules, he and I should get bunches of points for our massive trail work effort this weekend. I'm trying to figure out how to sneak the extra points in without causing a riot...
Re: Backcountry Fitness Challenge 2008 Check-in
True about the points, but UL desearves like kind for putting in 36+ miles. Way to go UL!

Re: Backcountry Fitness Challenge 2008 Check-in
Yeah for me!! I lost 2 pounds this week, and attended 3 Tae Kwon Do classes. I sat in the hospital all week with a church member so I really wasn't as active as I would have liked, but 208 is not 230. I am really envious of all of yall who got to go out on the trail, oh well, maybe sometim soon.

Blood pressure is down!
Hey guys something must be working. Or it could have been the 10 or more miles of hiking on the Caney/Buckeye loop and working at least 8hrs. But my blood pressure is down to 120/70 today! It has been way higher and I have lost down to 244.

Re: Backcountry Fitness Challenge 2008 Check-in
Thats good to hearabout your blood pressure OH. Blood pressure is something that a lot of people kid about and then say pass the salt but it really can catch up with someone fast. 120/70 is great. Keep up the good work, I know that marching season is not alwasys the best time to keep your blood pressure down

Re: Backcountry Fitness Challenge 2008 Check-in
I guess slow and steady wins the race, I lost another 2 pounds this week, weighing in at 206. Thats 24 pounds overall, and 6 pounds in the last 3 weeks. I am not loosing as much as when I first started, but that is ok as long as I am still loosing. I know that Eddie will be out on the trail for a while, but I think I have pulled ahead in the total percentage lost category .

Re: Backcountry Fitness Challenge 2008 Check-in
I'll update the scores probably tomorrow. Way to go Preacher! The weightloss category looks like it may go down to the wire!
Re: Backcountry Fitness Challenge 2008 Check-in
I know, and with Eddie being out on the trail for 10 days has me a little worried . At least I get to go out on the Butterfield this weekend, and I am doing 4 Tae Kwon Do classes a week. Even if I do not win the total percentage lost, at least I will be able to do my patented double action flying disapearing ninja kick .

Re: Backcountry Fitness Challenge 2008 Check-in
I weighed myself this morning and thought I better check in, just in case I forget to in a couple of days. I weighed in at 201 that is 29 pounds lost since I first began. I was kinda hoping to see anything below 200 but maybe by the final day. I could really tell the difference while hiking yesterday, and I don't think I'll miss that 30 pounds I was lugging around. I know that Eddie has been out all week, and I hope that he will surprise us all today when he gets home by losing a lot more weight.

Re: Backcountry Fitness Challenge 2008 Check-in
Ok here it goes the last hours of the BCFC, and I weigh in at 198. That is 32 pounds lost since September 17th . I never thought that I could do this, I love food, especially all the food that is not goo for me. After being on my diet for almost 2 months now it is not hard at all to make the right choices, and I do not make excuses either. Jay, thanks for adding me to this challenge, I really needed the accountability, and you don't give up either.
