Post by Trail Monkey Tue Nov 17, 2009 9:17 pm

Anyone interested in starting the New Year off the way it should be done... on a trail? Join us for a climb to the highest point in AR. The great thing about this is there will be a couple of options for us here. We will leave Cove Lake around 7am and stay the night on the trail to issue in the New Year. Get up the next morning and finish out the hike to the top of Signal Hill. Anyone needing to, we will stage your vehicles on top of the Mountain (yeah you can drive up there) and you can leave if need be. Or if you don't want to hike the uphill side, you can wimp out and join us for the down hill side as we will return to Cove lake spending the night on the trail again, finishing up sometime on Sunday. So man up, or lady up as the case may be, and TELL your significant other you will be on the trail and come on out. This is SURE to be a blast.

Pencil me in! I'd like to drive up early and camp somewhere along the way - maybe Albert Pike or AR.Hiker's cabin if he's open for that? Lay out the scouting report for us TM! Sure, I know I could search and dig it all up, but I'm sure you're already there. Tell us what we're doing and what to expect.

May have to take a ride up in a couple of weeks.... don't know when I can get the time though. From what I have heard water, while not abundant, is there. I looked it over from some sat photos, and other than some elevation detail that I don't have it looks like It will be quite the hike. Will be even more fun coming down lol. I just have to much going on right now with a couple of hikes and backpacking trips here locally to a couple of individual hikes thats not publicize. Right now I don't think I have a free weekend until after the first of the year lol. I know, its a good problem to have lol.

That sounds Awesome to me, but I would have to hike solo on the 2nd to get back to my truck. That's no big deal, and this trip sounds wonderful!!!

Yeah kind of what I was thinking.. Would be a up there and back. If you wanted to you could park up by P and bail out at the top.. I think I want to do the return. Would be similar to what we did on the ERL Red...

Sounds good to me. I need to do some up and down. I'll start taking a closer look at the trail since you're pretty busy. I'll let you know more about my confirmation once I see how Christmas sizes up, but I am planning on going - just haven't told my wife yet Razz.

TM - can you have a fire on this trail? It could be a little chilly without one - just saying... Guess we could all test out the cold weather gear we get from Santa Question
