Butterfield Hiking Trail Febuary 21st - 22nd
We are planning a hike on the Butterfield Trail on the Sat. Feb 21st - 22nd. This trip is open to anyone here on AB.
So far this is who is going.
Boston
willky
UL
myself (Lew)
This will be good chance for some us to go on a trip that is fairly easy and backpack together. Let us know if you can join us. More details about the trip to come soon.

Sounds like our team is going to be racking up some miles next weekend! Nice!
Re: Butterfield Hiking Trail Febuary 21st - 22nd
I can meet you all that Saturday morning and afternoon, but I have my daughters Girl Scout Daddy dance that night. That is if my wife doesn't go to Oklahoma to deliver Girl Scout Cookies. If I can't go with yall, yall have fun in my own back yard

PM,
I've got an old hand crank radio. I'll bring that, and y'all can have your father daughter dance on the trail........

Some of us young guns from Ole Miss have been trying to lighten up our packs, and are looking for a nice hike to test out the weight difference! Hope to see yall up there.

Are you for real? We would love to have you all. Lets try and set it up so we can at meet at the trailhead or at least meet at the camp. There is plenty of room for big camps on this trail. Just let us no or PM me.

I'm bringing a newbie, if that's alright. It'll be his second and longest trip. This is going to be a big group.

I'm looking forward to it! It would be only my 2nd strictly HIKING trip, but the ERL is definitely longer, right? What's the Butterfield like?

I just looked up some stuff on the loop, looks fun. Is the plan to complete it in a leisurely 2 days?

OMSC:
Yes, the Butterfield is a great leisurely, 2-day trip. There are very few hills of much elevation. About 80% of the trail is level to very gently rolling. It would great to have you guys join us.

I have hiked it several times, including in the dark. If yall let me know where you are meeting up Friday night, I can at least cook yall dinner and have a cake ready in the dutch oven. I am thinking Brisket sandwhiches since I have my friends big smoker at my house ! I can do that, and then cook pancakes the next morning so that yall will be fuelled for the day. There are the Walk-in camps off of campsite A, or whereever. If I cannot hike, at least I can make camp for yall Friday night.

I think most are planning on going up Saturday morning, but the boys from Ole Miss may be coming up on Friday. It does sound great, though.

Hey folks! I think I have it cleared with the boss that I can go too. I can drive or ride, either way, leaving from the Conway area. I did the butterfield late last year and it was easier than I had remembered it.

Happyhiker:
We should have everything ironed out by Wednesday of this week, so we can let you know at that point as far as riding or driving. We are planning to leave from Conway Saturday morning. My truck is pretty full, but bostonmtnman, I think, is planning to bring his vehicle and may have room. Again, we should have things pretty firmed up by Wednesday, Thursday at the latest.
Here's a list of all those going, as of now:
UL (+2)
Lew
bostonmtnman
willky
happyhiker
OleMiss and Company
Sounds like we will have a great group going, but if anyone else would like to join us, please feel free to come along.
We'd enjoy the social aspect of this trip.

This is looking good. I'm glad to see that so many are going to be able to make it.
boston, I'm glad willky got in touch with you and has got his ride covered.
To all, this is a great hike for a large group. Junction Camp is large enough to handle quite a few campers, so we will have plenty of room. I'm even thinking about bringing my UL fishing rig and try my luck in the creek next to camp.

I think the most fun me and my children ever had fishing was in the creek next to Junction Camp.

I was there back in March, '08 and it looked like it might have some good fishing in it, but I didn't take a pole that time.
I'm pretty sure I'm taking one this time.
