Re: Summer UL Gear List
UL, you truly take ultralite to the next level. A bare minimulist, very impressive. You are looking at a pack weight of less than ten pounds with food and water. I bettone day you will have it down so well with the right technology you will be able to cary everything in a hipbelt. lol.Just when I thought I was doing well with my weight, well I am still young and carrying twenty pounds is like carrying next to nothing to me. Good list, thanks for sharing.
Coffe Filters
What are the coffee filters for??

Snow:
I really don't see how age or ability to carry heavier pack weights have anything to do with going ultralight. I choose to go UL, not because of any physical impairment or because of my age, but because I like to knock out a lot of miles in a given day, if I so choose, and a lighter pack enables me to accomplish this. I know a lot of people younger than yourself that go UL, by choice, not because of age or physical capabilities. I'm not trying to dog you about it, but the primary reason for me posting UL gear lists is to inform and maybe even educate those who have been thinking about lightening their loads. Thank you for your response to the thread,

Since I did not list a filter above, I would be collecting water directly in my water bottles. The coffee filters, when placed over the mouth of the bottle, will prevent debris from entering the bottle.

I carry them for use in my Mega Deluxe Espresso Magic Coffee Machine. Duh!
I mean, like, how does anyone get up in the morning expecting to hike all day without drinking a couple double mocha chocolate french vanilla lattes first?

Re: Summer UL Gear List
UL,
Just wondering why you choose aqua mira instead of Micropur tablets? It seems easier to use micropur to me, but I might be missing something.
And let me say that this is a pretty impressive list. Its good to know that there is a fellow UL'er on here. Maybe we can help each other get to the coveted "SUL" title. Haha...!

I just happen to have Aqua Mira on hand. I don't believe there is much difference between the two. I may be wrong.
I would love to reach the SUL goal and probably could if I went with a Gossamer Gear pack and a lighter pad. These are the things that I have now, so I quess I'll have to lug around the extra pounds - LOL!
Looking forward to any help you could give,
UL

Re: Summer UL Gear List
UL I am now questioning your reading abilities because I complimented you on your list and did not mock it. I am working my weight down for the same reason you are. I never said age and ability has to do with ultralight, I said for MY ability until I get my weight down carrying the extra weight has not slowed ME down. I did not refer to anyone else but myself. You truly no how to make a compliment into something negative. What is wrong with you man. You show me where I said UL is for old people and I will apologize. Quit misenterpreting my statements and we will get along just find. Sorry my friend but you couldn't DOG me if you mtried. I believe your still bent about the whole tarp versus tent thing, get over it.
