Hey snowsurfer, welcome to the site!

How long do you reckon your thru-hike is going to take? Just curious.

That sounds about right. I'd love to join you, but I hope to be working again by then. (My job is "going away" on the 25th of this month.) It's hard to get two weeks off from a new job!

Sounds like so much fun!

That's true! Or I could come down with a mysterious illness in September that will leave me bedridden for at least 12 days. Wink

Now your talkin' my language. I'll tell you what, you work it out and I will take an extra person. I like to keep to a minumum for less impact on the forest. The time of year is going to be ideal and the people joining me on this trip will have first dibs on my trip to the Great Sand Dunes National Monument for a six day trek across the dunes and up to some high mountain lakes.

Very cool site, surfer! How long have you been offering to lead groups out? Are you getting many takers? Just curious.

I would love to hook up and hike on the 26/27th, but my father is moving from Missouri to Arizona and I'm going to be out of town with him that weekend. (And probably the next week or two, hiking somewhere around Tucson. If you have any advice on where to go, let me know!)

Maybe we can catch up on the next one!

I have always wanted to do a thru hike. As always it will have to wait for another day. I will do it one of these days. Kinda hard to do any thru hikes when you are a teacher. Esp. in Sept.! Man a busy month for sure as a band director. Any way sounds like a great opportunity. Jay take the man up on the offer!! Laughing

I have had this trek advertised for about three weeks now and have four people planning on going. I have been leading groups for over ten years all over the country. Some trips just weekend getaways, others long distance week or hikes and floats covering many miles. I Moved to Arkansas two years ago and am just now getting my business going again. I just love the outdoors and love to meet different people which is why I put the whole thing together. I will keep you informed here of my plans and hopefully someday we can explore together.

Snowsurfer,

That would be great! I am recovering from knee replacement surgery. I can hold my own on the trail.
I just love being out. The wife and I also do trail maintence on the OT and in Caney Creek Wilderness.
Any way I would love to meet up with you some day.

Jay in Tucson the best place I have hiked is Seven Falls in Bear Canyon. It is about 8.5 mi. round trip and offers amazing scenery. The falls itself is beautiful, a seven tiered waterfall coming out from the desert is pretty spectacular. I believe it is in the Sabino Canyon area not too far from Tucson. I'm sure you cam mapquest it.

I will keep it on my radar. If I can make it, I will probably pull some increased mileage the last few days and try to shorten the trip by 2 days, however, I am a weak maybe at this point. Later in the summer I will be able to review.
