Headed out for a little hike
My grand daughter, Sydney (12), and I are headed out for a little over nighter.
Her first, from AP to winding stairs cross the little mo, and out to the S. ABF trail head.
will check what needs to be done while I am there.

Re: Headed out for a little hike
Just like to say we now have another backpacker in our midst! We got a late start Monday, 2:00PM, at Albert Pike and hiked to the Winding Stairs. She handled the stream crossings like a champ. She did lots of exploring and had a great time. Now she is ready to go back! Now her brother is wanting to go so I may be going back at the end of the week.

Was there much trash on the trail? I'm taking the boys on their first trip this weekend along the same route. I thought about bringing my loppers to cut back any potential growth that may encroach on the trail and bringing some garbage sacks of course.

Chris,
I saw plenty of trash. I don't know what you might have from the parking area to the trail intersection but from that point on, by the way a wet creek crossing, there is plenty. Mainly empty water bottles. Lot of it is down a slope and you might not be able to reach it safely. How far does you area go? to the first crossing of the little mo? There are some brush to be cut back but not much.
