Trail Maintance Tools
Since there seems to be a interest in trail work here lately I thought I would mention
what the wife and I use for trail work and our past experiences with trail tools.
First of all buy quality tools if at all possible. If you can't get ready wear it out quick!
I started out with some cheap Walmart loppers. Man that didn't last long! Before one
season of trail work was gone they wore out on me. I have tried it all. Also don't even
mess with sling blades. If you do get ready to rebuild it for it WILL fall apart on the trail.
If you will check out this PDF file this is tools that FoOT recoments to be used. I use
the shears, killer on briars, and the wife uses the Fiskars bypass loppers. I also normaly
carry a Fanno saw. We can normally can take care of anything I encounter with those three tools.
Also I take a small bottle of oil for lubrication. Since I am a band director I use empty
bottles of valve oil and refill them with 3 in 1 oil.
