Rockhouse Falls
I got to take the whole family out on a hike this past Sunday and we visited Rockhouse Trail which is one of our favorite trails. One of the highlights is Rockhouse Falls.
Upper falls:
Lower falls:
Here's another shot including my wife so you can see the scale.
There's also an Native American bluff shelter just above the falls which is fun to explore. We hiked and explored around most of the day and ended up at the Big Brushy campground to roast some hot dogs and marshmallows. It was a great day!

Looks like a great place to explore around. Going to be hard to get out the latter part of the
week unless you are offited for polar conditions!

Re: Rockhouse Falls
Where is this located along the trail? Might be a swimming hole perhaps?

Re: Rockhouse Falls
I might be wrong but I think that it is accessed from the Big Brushy complex of hwy. 270. Chris works nights so he

Re: Rockhouse Falls
That would be an awesome place for my boys, and OH is right about Polar conditions. Everthing up here is shut down, and we got more snow last night!!!
Re: Rockhouse Falls
clouddancer - Tom is right. The trail complex and campground is located west of Oden on hwy 270. The waterfall and bluff shelter are only 0.25 mi. down the trail. It would be a nice place to wade around but not really deep enough to swim. There is a great place to camp right next to it though or you can just camp at the Big Brushy campground. Camping there is free!
Dwight - If you ever head down that way let me know and I can send you a link or two about early Native Americans in Arkansas. I read some of that material to the kids before we visited the bluff shelter and it really enhanced the experience for them.
