Weekend plans 4/12/08
Man this may be the best week end in a long while! Lows in the 30's highs in the 60's. Where is everyone going?? I think the wife and I might just get to get away to the mnts. Maybe do some more trail work on the Buckeye trail. Any one else going out??

I've got a ton of work to do around my house too. I won't get to do much this weekend either.

I made a quick trip to Petit Jean this morning with my fiancee, Amy. We got there early enough that we beat the crowd. They showed up right as we were leaving. Lucky.

Well looks like we will get to go out afterall. Going to head out early in the morning and go up to the Buckeye trail and do some more trail maintence. I am itching to get that trail cleared. We will take some picks of before and after shots to show yall how bad it is in spots.

Well we made it up to the Buckeye Trail to do some trail work. We started this about a month ago and maid it about a mile to mile and a half at that time. Man it was a great day to be on the trail today! Clear blue skys, wild flowers were blooming. Started out by clearing a oak tree that was over the trail that I had to pass up last time do to not haveing a saw. Well it wasn't easy but it is cleared! I lopped of a lot of briars today, I hate briars!! There is a nice path on top of the ridge now. We now have cleared from the trail head to the point were the trail drops of the ridge. That is 3.4 miles. We started out at 8:30 and got back to the truck at 4:00 pm. We will over time follow the trail all the way to the Caney trail but not today.
Met three backpackers from Little Rock today. They said that the trail on the West side of Caney Creek wilderness is completely blocked! Many large trees are down. I plan on calling the forrest service in Mena in the next couple of days to see when they can send in a crew to clear the trail.
Also Janet found to throwing knives stuck in a oak tree today! This sure is odd. Any way she relieved the tree of its pain and we brought them home with us.
I am downloading my pics on Webshots now. When I get them up I will post them online under Wilderness areas.
