I'm going to try and do a section of two of the BRT on the weekend of the 16-18th. I'm going it alone as of now, unless other forum members want to jump in!

Alternatively, since this will probably be a near-peak weekend for fall colors, I'd be happy to go hiking anywhere else in NW AR if one of you guys has a different preference and wants a hiking buddy.

I am hiking Ponca to Pruitt next weekend. We are hitting the trail Friday morning and planning on finishing up mid afternoon on Sunday.

Are you talking about the weekend of the 9-10-11? I'd love to hook up for a hike that weekend but my mom's visiting Jonesboro so I'm going to drive up and see her.

We are camping at Ozark on Thursday night and shuttling up to Ponca on Friday morning.

Friday night we will be at Kyles where we will be joined by those who can't make it TH. We are hiking to Erbie Satuday and camping somewhere off the trail. Sunday we are finishing at Pruitt.

It rained hard on TH night. I have never been on the BRT when there was so much water.

Just about every hollow had a waterfall between Ponca and Kyles. There were three wet stream crossings as well.

The rain let up Friday morning, so we at least didn't have to hike in it.

Well, considering all the rain I've changed my plans for the weekend. I think I'm going to do some waterfall hunting in the Boxley area instead of a section of BRT. I've picked out about 8 or 9 waterfalls I'm going to try to see over the weekend. I'd still welcome any company.

I was also planning on spending the weekend on the BRT. What would you guys recommend considering all the rain we've had this week? What should I expect? Any advice would be appreciated.

There were three boots off crossings between Ponca and Kyles.

Between Kyles and Erbie, I think we managed without getting wet.

We had one wet crossing between Erbie and Pruitt.

It was warm enough that some of us went across boots on and walked them dry. However, as the temps dip, that won't fly. None of the crossings were much more than knee deep.

Keep in mind we had a torrential rain on the TH night of the trip.

Take crocks or whatever you use for stream crossings and you will be fine. There was no problem getting across, but there was no way to rock hop across.

The BRT area is expecting its first freezing temps this weekend, so please go prepared for the cooler weather. 50s for highs and lows around 32.

Thanks guys. We decided to do the BRT next weekend instead. We'll just try a day hike in the area tomorrow.

I got back in late last night. I was planning on staying the whole weekend, but by the time I saw triple falls at camp Orr last night, it was already dark and I didn't really know where I was going to camp. I hate setting up in the dark, and I had camped at the trailhead to hideout hollow on Friday night (which is a no-camping area) just because I got there at dark and didn't know beforehand that it was no-camping.

I was looking for Thunder Canyon falls most of the day Saturday and never could find it. As I made my way back to my car, I heard what sounded like an explosion about 30ft to my left. I completely forgot that muzzleloading season started yesterday and I had no orange with me at all. So, after regrouping and changing my underwear, I decided that the few waterfalls I had left to see (all of them pretty hard bushwhacks), it might not be the greatest idea to go after them with gun hunters out and about and me not having any orange.

Report and pictures to come.

Hey east.. your welcome to come up with us this next weekend. A few of us will be at the Erbie campground Fri night... actually Preacha an me will be there Thursday night... we going to do Cecile Cove Sat and stay somewhere up on the trail up near Kyles I think.. depends on who comes and what I have to work with as this is suppose to be a beginners trip. I got a few people that if they show up I may have to skip the cove and just do the flat trail on the ORHT... but your welcome.. everyone is welcome.
