Hey guys,

I saw that some of us have logged in today and I thought I would say Happy Thanksgiving. We just finished the Backcountry Fitness Challenge, and now most of us will be looking at pies all day Smile. I hope and pray that all of you stay safe and have a great day today, I am hoping to get out on the trail tomorrow, but that is yet to be seen.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I will be getting on the trail in Caney Creek tomorrow. My son Bryan is coming down from Ok City to help out along with Mark Davis from Mt. Ida. It is ironic that this is the first time that my son and I are going backpacking together! In fact this is his first bping trip ever. Going out Fri.afternoon and coming out Sun. morning.

I looked at the maps of Caney Creek area today. Which is the best place to start? I thought strating on the buckeye and then kinda looping back by going on the road a little bit. Does this make sense and would that be a good hike for my first time there? It would be and my neighbor boy so I would only have one vehicle and need to do a loop unless we back tracked on the last day.

Dwight,

That would be the way I would do it and the way I have done it many times. When do you plan on coming down? I will be in there from Fri. afternoon Sat. and come out Sun. morning. Email me or send me a PM and I will be glad to talk about details about the area. All of the major downed timber has been cleared in the area you are planing on doing. There is one small step over tree on the way down on the buckeye trail. The trail is clear now all the way to the E. trail head.
