Fall & winter planned hikes!
Since almost everyone is done hiking until fall, what hikes do you have planned for this fall and winter? Lew was over to the house last night and we got to talking about some of the hikes that we want to do when things cool back off. Some of the trips we talked about doing are:
the Buffalo River Trail (Boxley-Pruitt), Eagle Rock Loop, a large section of the OHT, among others. My wife and I are going to try and sneek in a 4-5 day Grand Canyon hike in November, if everything goes as planned.
So, since its too damn hot to hike, we might as well talk about the hikes you have planned. Care to share,

Re: Fall & winter planned hikes!
Sometime in September, I plan on doing a 4-day Eagle Rock Loop hike. Hoping to get some people to do it with me, but will solo if need be.
Re: Fall & winter planned hikes!
I did it in 2004 on Labor Day weekend and it was hot! But, the river crossings were such a relief!

Yeh, colt:
September may be a little warm to do Eagle Rock. I did it last in December, '07. That was fun. Water was a little cool, though.

Hopefully in late September it will have cooled off enough to do it. If not, then I will hold off until October, but I would rather not.

I know colt. I'm chomping at the bit to get out and do some hiking. I can't wait until the first few cool days of fall.

We should do a get together at a central place and do a BBQ or out for eats or something... a meet and greet would be nice.

Re: Fall & winter planned hikes!
Fall / Winter hiking agenda: Possible weeklong trip to Colorado in August.
Upper Buffalo bushwack from the trailhead on the east end of Cave Mountain road to Dixon ford.
OHT Sections 1,3,7,8.
Bushwack through the Leatherwood wilderness area. I would like to get a White river guide boat to take me in to the mouth of the creek and go thru to a vehicle parked on the upper end.
A couple of bushwacks through the Upper Kiamichi and Black Fork mountain Wilderness areas.
Those are the hikes on my agenda for the season. I will post dates when they are set if anyone wants to attend. I cannot offer spots on the Colorado trip since I am a guest myself.

I like your schedule. BTW, where in Colorado are you going? I WILL do the Colorado Trail within the next 5 years.

Re: Fall & winter planned hikes!
ulhiker,
The Colorado trip is to the Flattops wilderness area. I am still undecided if I am going to go. Budget, vacation time available and all of those other pesky life problems that get in the way seem to be holding me back.
