Steel Creek to Kyles via ORT Empty Steel Creek to Kyles via ORT

Hi! I am new to backpacking and this forum. I have hiked the Buffalo trails once before on an overnight and am HOOKED!! I am planning a 2 day (overnight) hike the end of May 2011. My plan is to start at Steel Creek and finish at Kyle's Landing. I want to go up on Big Bluff and into Hemmed-in Hollow. My question is: If we start at Steel Creek around 8am (ish) and follow the ORT (old river trail) that mirrors the river, will we have plenty of time to go up on the Big Bluff and still have camp set up in the light? We will either camp at Sneed's Creek or go on to Horseshoe Bend, depending on time. I think I can, but would like some advice from more experienced backpackers. We don't want to be rushed and would like to be able to stop along the way. I know there are several water crossing and this will add a little time to the hike.

Day 2 we will hike into Hemmed-in Hollow and back out to Kyle's Landing. I've done this portion of the hike before and am comfortable with my time planning for that day.

Also, what is the Centerpoint trail like? I've read that it is an 'old road'. Is it like hiking along a gravel road or is it more like a trail. I've hiked up to the Big Bluff from Sneed's Creek...is the Centerpoint like that road?

Hopefully, I can get in a couple of day hikes before my May trip. Any advice/suggestions is appreciated. Thanks a bunch!
