Looking for information on the Sylamore creek trail, anyone here hike it? I'm thinking of going next week and would like to hear your opinion of it.

It is a great trail that is not used much this time of the year. Beautiful water, mostly in pools now with little flow (spring-fed so there is always water in the creek). Lots of nice views of the surrounding countryside. There is a new section that has recently been constructed upstream of Barkshed that is not in the guidebook yet, but I have a feeling it is pretty grown up from lack of use. The guidebook has a map and walking description of the rest of the trail (Arkansas Hiking Trails). It is a great trail to hike at any time of the year.

Thank you, it sounds great. I don't know if I'll have enough time to hike the extension from Barkshed on to the end, Probably just go from allison to Barkshed this trip.

Here's an interactive topographic map centered on the Barkshed Picnic area:

That looks like an interesting mapping site. I will have to look at it some more. What all can it do?

Epic - I put up a homepage for Gmap4 that includes some examples showing what it can do.

You can:
* surf topo maps with pan/zoom
* search maps
* display your gps data
