Any Camp Grounds Open
I was trying to plan a Buckeye Trip with my grand kids. I wanted a comp ground for Friday night. Does anyone know of one that is open? Seems Albert Pike is a mess. Shady Lake is clossed.

The Bard Spring campground is just a few miles east of the western trailhead to the Caney Wilderness and Buckeye. The campground itself is closed but the shelters next to it are open. I think they are $8.00 a night but I'm not sure.

What campground is that, Tom? It would be good to know for whenever I get around to hiking in the wilderness area.

John,
I am talking about the COE campground below Dierks Dam called Horshoe Bend. There is 12 spots with water and elec. Hot showeres.
The winter rates are still in effect. $4.00 tenters and 8:00 RVers. After April 1 it reverts back to Summer rates, $11.00 all sites. This place
is frequented by floaters a lot. When there isn't any water we are normaly flowing pretty good. There are three water features down stream
the the COE and the Arkansas Canoe Club went intogether back in the late 90's to build.

Clif,
Not quite sure could have been early after 2000. I have heard several story's about that.

Thanks, Tom. That is a pretty sweet price for pre-season camping.

That price is good for one more month. March 1st goes back to 11.00 per day. Should be handy for you folks from TX headed for the ERL or Caney Creek area.
