Re: John Muir Trail
Just as a headsup, I ran across Sean's journal on trailjournals.com as he prepares for the JMT this summer. Of particular interest is his training regimen.

Re: John Muir Trail
Red,
I also have found your on-line journal. I will be following you all the way! I wish you the best of luck in your endeavor.
You are living my dream. I, when younger, had wanted to do some thru-hikes but now at 57 with bad knees, over weight
(working on that) and no time it seems as though my time has past. So now I turn my efforts to trail work for all of you
guys! All the best friend!

Re: John Muir Trail
14 miles a day for 16 days?! Are the trails out west laid out better or am I just a wimp? That sounds pretty tiring. Sorry to hear about the injury, that must be really disappointing what with all the planning, cost, and anticipation that goes into a trip like that!

Guess I should look at the dates before posting.

UL went out last year and had the injury. Redbuffalo is planning on doing the JM this year.

Re: John Muir Trail
Glad you guys found the journal. I'll be leaving Wednesday for my solo ERL yo-yo as my shake down hike. I'll report back both here and at trailjournals as to how things go. It'll actually be my first time to be on the trail for 6 days and solo so it should be interesting.

Red,
How many days are you taking for your yo-yo?

Re: John Muir Trail
I'm planning on 6 days, 10 miles / day and will overlap the trail to get in 60 miles. I want to get a good camp routine down and work on a steady pace plus pack with the dreaded bear canister.
Re: John Muir Trail
I just got back home from the ERL and there is a lot of poison ivy on the trail. It is a good time to go, and there is plenty of clear water for you. Have fun
