Fun on the Lower Saline River Empty Fun on the Lower Saline River

Post by ouachita hiker Sun May 24, 2009 12:16 am

Well guys I know that everyone is hoping to maybe get out one more time, hiking that is, but around here the white water is a churning! Our campground is full and the water is teaming with Kayaks and some canoes. In fact in the last three days I have seen four canoes swamped by the white water. I thought that I would post this video of kayaking on the Lower Saline. This is from 2008 but the conditions are simular to what they are now other than probably more water is being released now and for a much longer time.

By the way my grand daughter had her first kayaking lesson this afternoon! I am proud of her, she took to it like a duck to water. I will post some pics on Sunday.

by the way I was told today that a hydrologist has told the Corp that if we don't get any more rain we will be releasing water like in the video till July 11!

Oh
