Since every time we have a new member join this comes up I thought it would be good to post this:

Hicker is a person who is still trying to figure out the whole hiker/gear thing while on the trail.

This was found on :

Whiteblaze.net trail terms and slang

So there is the official explanation!

In a continuing effort to define and clarify the term hicker, my grandson and I will be modeling the same in either Polk Or Montgomery county next week. It has been a long time for me and he has never been. Either the ERL or the Buckeye. Not knowing which one may be part of the hickering. I think we will be on the tail Tuesday morning, but with children and weather all things are tentative. If you see us on the trail feel free to offer advise, directions, food, or water. It might be quite commical, but I am very sure we will have fun and he will be hooked forever. Mission acomplished.

I hope I never lose my inner hicker.

Long live hickers. Have fun out there!

Just like in education we should all be constantly learning and willing to learn. We can all glean vaulable info from all on this board. You might say I am always all ears! Smile
