... you take your iodine tablets out of the bottles and count exactly how many tabs you need, and put those in a special plastic bag that weighs nothing!!

I keep trying to dehydrate water too, but I find that it uses too much fuel Very Happy. I know people who cut all the tags off everything, trim all the webbing on their packs, and one guy who cut the excess off his shoe strings.

ohh by the way,

To heck with the stove..... just pour the alcohol on the ground between two sticks and light it up. No stove needed.

I to trim most of my straps and things but not for weight, for tangle free.

Might be a "True Backpacker" if you actually onl use a tarp in stead of a tent. Wink right preacher

I have made lean-to's just for fun. My neighbor and I did this back in January an stayed plenty dry and warm.

If you know the Name, Length, Elevation and Location of every trail in your State and the next 3 states away in any given direction.

You got that right! My toes on my right foot was still hurting yesterday! Dang it that is gettng bad. But remember this wasn't my trip, it was Trailrelic's trip. I went along to keep those guys straight! They needed all of my years of valuable experience!
