Twin Falls
I have heard that there is an "easy" way to get to Twin Falls in the Richland Creek Wilderness by parking near a cemetery north of the falls instead of hiking the 2 or 3 miles from the campground. Does anyone know how to get to this cemetery? or any other advice? I want to find a way to get to twin falls without the 2 creek crossings you make coming from the campground. Thanks!

Kinda vauge but I hope that helps. I have also heard of heading down from the road on the hill north of the bridge.
You do know that the Falling Water approach rd is blocked by a landslide that will not be cleaned up anytime soon?? Gotta get in there from the north.
Also be aware that serious ice damage happened in this area that will make the going tuff and falling wood a danger. The lower elevations, along the creeks, are in much better shape than the hilltops tho. Should be ok down by the falls.

Re: Twin Falls
Thanks for the link... I have been to the falls 3 or 4 times, but I have always parked at the campground and backpacked in from there. The problem is if the creek crossings are high and swift, it's a problem. I last went this past fall and came in from the north because of the landslide which worked fine. So, I guess I am looking for a new way to explore that requires less creek crossing. I just love this area, partly because it is so remote and isolated. I might do my first solo trip there soon.

I wish I did have a gps! But I prefer exploring places the old-fashioned way... thanks for the offer.

gps coordinates
i would really appreciate the gps coordinates. I have never been there. I have called the forest service multiple times and they tell me that its all closed and to not attempt it because of the storm damage. i have heard that that is bs though.
Re: Twin Falls
There are maps, photos, gps coordinates, and directions from Hill Cemetery in both the Arkansas Waterfalls Guidebook and Arkansas Nature Lover's Guidebook (this one includes the Sandstone Castle and the grindstones) by Ernst, and also a map and directions into the waterfalls in the Buffalo River Hiking Trails guidebook by Ernst. The route in from the Hill Cemetery is not too bad - just a few downed trees to go around, but folks have been going around them for more than a year now so it is pretty easy. Coming up from the campground is more scenic, but longer because you will have to stop and look around a lot more!

The road that follows Falling water creek is still blocked just south of the Richland campground.
Ice down limbs are at higher elevations.. not down in the valley.
