Maybe this will work!!! It looks pretty cheap, and if you need something heavier, just look around the site a little more. If you get the 55" the you could just fold it in half and sew up the sides. 2 yards would be great.
After looking a little bit more, they have heavier weights that come in 70" widths. All these silks can be dyed what ever color you want, I may have to order a few yards of different kinds for myself
