Books about Backpacking Empty Books about Backpacking

I am currently reading Bill Bryson's "A Walk in the Woods" about his AT trip back in 1996. I know, its been around for a while, but found it at Hastings over the weekend. It is hallarious in places. I'm about half way through it, but it's a great read. I'm interested in how Robert Redford is going to treat this book in his upcoming movie. The folks at Whiteblaze.com have mixed feelings about it. Mainly about the increased number of people that will undoubtedly try and hike the AT after the movie comes out. Twisted Evil
I was interested in what other books you have read that has backpacking as its central theme. Either "How-To" books or others.

That book is hilarious. I have read a few other of his books and while being well written they do not have the humor that A Walk in Woods does. I was hiking on the Womble trail with some friends. Late in the evening we were all sitting around reading and relaxing. One of the gentlemen just kept giggling the whole time. I finally inquired what he was reading that was so funny....A Walk in the Woods

Backpacking books I have read.
The Complete Walker Colin Fletcher
A Walk in the Woods Bill Bryson
In to the Wild
A Guide to Ultralite Backpacking
Ernst trail guides
Numerous trail journals of thru hikers
Several others that do not come to mind at the moment.

A Walk in the Woods was a hilarious read! I expected more though, for some reason.

The Complete Walker IV is my current read, actually. About half-way through. It is very good for general information. Great buy.

The Backpacker's Field Manual is also a good read.

Of course, all of Tim Earnst's books are good. I have three of them. Smile
