SOLO Wilderness First Aid Certification Course
In Selmer, TN (about 1.5 hours from Memphis) there is a place that teaches the SOLO Wilderness First Aid Certification Course. The place is at http://www.foxkitsinc.com/. They do not have a class scheduled for this, but I contacted them and they said if we could get 6 or more people to go, they could schedule one at our convenience. It is a Saturday / Sunday class. The normal fee is $170 for the course including tent camping site and primative bathhouse. Up to eight people can upgrade to a bunkhouse for an additional $5 each. I would love to get 6 folks to go and do this. I know Snow already has his Wilderness First Aid Certification, and it would be nice for more of us to have this as well.
If you are interested, post here with your name and available dates that work best for you.
Eddie: See if any of the folks in the Memphis group would be interested in this as well, if you don't mind.

Re: SOLO Wilderness First Aid Certification Course
I would totally be up for it, but I probably wouldn't be able to until the end of Summer/Early Fall. Are you wanting to do this soon?
Re: SOLO Wilderness First Aid Certification Course
Colt, I will post it to our site. uh is the $170 per person?

Re: SOLO Wilderness First Aid Certification Course
I'd love to, but it'll have to be later in the year. Maybe late summer/early fall. Would this be alright?
Re: SOLO Wilderness First Aid Certification Course
Kyle:
We can do it whenever we will have the most interest. The more the better in my opinion. Jay said he would have to wait until late summer/early fall as well.
Jay & Kyle:
What dates look better for you two?

Re: SOLO Wilderness First Aid Certification Course
Is there a course synopsis? I could not find one on the foxkitsinc website.
Re: SOLO Wilderness First Aid Certification Course
This course is certified through SOLO (Stonehearth Open Learning Opportunities) and their sylabus (of sorts) is at http://www.soloschools.com/wfa.html.
Re: SOLO Wilderness First Aid Certification Course
The first weekend in September is open for me. Is that good for everyone else?
Re: SOLO Wilderness First Aid Certification Course
It looks like everyone is so ecstatic about the first weekend in September that they can't even speak!
Let's just put it on the calendar and plan on it. If there isn't enough interest once we get closer, we can let the SOLO folks know that we can't make it. But I bet we can get at least 6 people to go.
Are we on?

Re: SOLO Wilderness First Aid Certification Course
Anyone know how long this certification is good for? I looked on the website and couldn't find anything.
Re: SOLO Wilderness First Aid Certification Course
I think it kind of died with Colt... as sad as it may seem...

Did Colt die? Gee, I hope not.
Most first aid certs last for 1 year. My guess is that this would be the same.

Re: SOLO Wilderness First Aid Certification Course
Unless you count working to death as being dead, then I am not dead. Sometimes it just feels that way...
Re: SOLO Wilderness First Aid Certification Course
So, is anyone still interested in doing this on the first weekend in September? I am still up for it. As a reminder, we do need six people for this.
Re: SOLO Wilderness First Aid Certification Course
It looks like I'm out. I am trying to pay off a credit card, and the 160 will probably be better spent there. Sorry, I really want to, but I think this one of the situations where I'm suppose to be a "responsible adult".
