Now planning for the solo Empty Now planning for the solo

The first part of planning a long distance solo is a purpose. Most people don't decide to head out and spend two or three weeks alone in the wilderness because they just like to hike. People that say they want to solo it usually find an area where thew now they will be truly alone for most of there trip. I chose my first solo in the winter because I knew where I was going the chance of seeing others was slim. This is the purpose I am talking about. I needed to be away from all people for a reason. To be in my own head for many days without any distractions. I did this to search my soul at that point in my life to figure certain things out that were troubling me. Some people go to therapy and spend hundreds of dollars, I hit the trail. It truly works too. So if you try a long distance solo with no real purpose, you will most likely convince yourself half way through you don.t know why your doing this and wish otheres were there and quit. Purpose is the most important piece of gear on a long distance solo.
