8:30 isn't too late at all. Once we get a starting date for this thing, I'll get in touch with you to set things up.

Let's start it on Monday the 14th. I would prefer to start it this coming Monday, but that's right after the holiday weekend, and the extra week would give members plenty of time time to sign up if they want.

Tonight, I'm going to post an invite on the homepage with a link to the sticky topic where we'll post our info.

I also have to write a simple HTML scoreboard for the homepage, and since I suck at HTML, if our resident Web Designer feels like jumping in there to help, he should totally feel free too... Cool (I won't mention any names...COLT...)

I have done something that I know I will regret... no more BBQ till after Nov 1. affraid I want to shoot for 40lb by then.. don't know how long you guys are wanting this to run... but I am figuring I can do 10lb a month for 4 months.. hope so anyway... so if I seem craby sorry lol.

I am all in this as well. I am still hoping to trip about 100 lbs by next summer, so this will give me great motivation.

Jay, I would be glad to help with the scoreboard. Once we decide all of the stats to track, that should be a very simple thing to work up.

Yea, how long do we have to lose this weight? July 14th as good as any to start, but we need an ending date. That way, we can set up our training program accordingly.
Four months would make it November 14. Do we want to make it this long?
The average healthy person needs to keep weight loss down to about 2 lbs per week. Any more than this and you will not keep it off very long and you could do more harm to your body than good.
With that, we need to decide how long to make this challenge for.

I agree UL. I have been on a schedule of dropping almost exactly 2 pounds every week since I started (sometimes a little more sometime a little less, but pretty darn close every week).

I think 4 months would be a good start. Or we could do it on a quarterly schedule (3 months at a time).

I figured we should go until the majority of us start regularly hiking again. My workout routine will change drastically after that. Since it won't really cool off much until probably November, setting the end date on November 14th sounds good to me.

Anybody see a problem with that? Is that too long?

I vote for the 14th of November. This may have been stated somewhere above, but we also need to indicate how many lbs each of our goal's is.

November 14th would be good for me. Wanna put any money up on it? lol... My wife belongs to a mom's forum here in the Memphis area and they pool in money for a prize. They also do it in teams to give some slackers incentive to not hurt their team mates chances. The only thing I don't like about the way they do it is that they base the winner on "minutes excersized." No real goals, but that does allow even the fit people in so it does have its advantages.
