Anyone have a good estimation on when the trail will be open again?

Just have to call the Forest Service.

I'm guessing you may be able to do some section hikes out of the Blaylock Creek trail parking area on 106 (Athens Big Fork Trail / Viles Branch). As the trail goes along the Little Mo (Little Missouri Trail / Winding Stairs) I would expect heavy brush piles and tree navigation for several months. Maybe we can scout it this winter?

I have thought about calling Liz at Mt. Ida but it is like I know what she is going to say. I feel like the Little Mo trail will be closed for quite some time. You could use the South ABF trail head and do all of the ABF or the Viles Branch. As far as checking it out this winter I have thought about the same thing.

Thanks! It'll be good to have a contact in the NF for trail updates.

The story still has some local interest here in Lufkin. I just finished an interview with the Lufkin Daily News. Seriously though, my experience was pretty tame along Saline Creek compared to anyone on the Little Mo.
