Re: What a beautiful day!
Kudos on the trail maintenance! I still want to get that pillow and sleeping bag that's up on the mountain (past Blaylock Creek).
Re: What a beautiful day!
I am thinking about calling the FS office at Glenwood and get with them on trail maintenance. I am still going to work in
Caney Creek but I don't mind branching out so to speak! On the way out I noticed some places that I missed and would
like to go back over it again. The Devils Walking Sticks are just coming out and they could be quite painful, anyway
I missed some of those. This was sort of a spur of the moment deal.

Red,
One more thing. Some hikers we talked to had mentioned a bad fire pit some were on the Viles Branch
that had bunches of cans. One remarked about on can of Wolf Brand Chili that was left! Did you guys
see that? Most of I picked up was bad rusting so they had to be there for a while. Wondered of some
of it went back to the past deer season.

Re: What a beautiful day!
OH,
Sounds like a great time, especially all the way to Spirit Rock Vista. When I hiked Viles Branch, all I could see was Red's Backpack I don't remember seeing a firpit with a chili can in it. I am kinda like Red though, when I saw that pillow and sleeping bag last Thursday, all I could think of was wow, someone left those up here . I like the Wal-Mart bag idea, I mostly stuff trash into my mesh pockets. I am pretty sure my pack can spare a Wal-mart bag or two.

Preacha,
I remarked to the wife that I probably sounded like one of those early gold miners hiking out.
All I could here was clank, clank, bang! I had two full bags of ten cans plus some one left
the remains of freeze dried scrambled eggs I don't see how anyone could eat that stuff!
I want to believe that it wasn't really hikers that did this, blame deer hunters! But I know that
it could be kids or adults , sad, sad, sad.

Re: What a beautiful day!
OH, I do the same thing with the WalMart bags. I was shocked the two times I've visited by the amount of gear and litter along the trail. I like the accessibility of the ERL, but the litter seems to be the price paid for it.
And, you are right about Spring Break in Texas. My group of Texans will pitch in some efforts to clean up this weekend.

Clifhanger,
As far as spring break goes ours is next week. We will probably have all of the bad wet weather!
I am leading a group in this weekend to clear some of the W. end of the Caney Creek Trail. As
far as trash I think that I left plenty for you group to pick up!

Re: What a beautiful day!
Well I have made contact with the FS office at Glenwood. Now it looks like we will be
branching out to the ERL, officially, in out trail clearing work.
The work never ends!
