Re: Where was this picture taken?
There at at least two different towers (as noted above) - the one is the tourist tower on Hwy. 7 just south of Jasper at the top of the hill (Arkansas Grand Canyon is actually farther south along Hwy. 7, and can be seen from the Cliff House and along the highway from that point south), and the Buffalo Fire Tower in the Upper Buffalo area, which is where the web cam noted above is located. Funny but this web cam is normally "unavailable" during controlled burns...
There are tons of rental cabins in the greater Ponca/Boxley Metroplex (just do a google search), but most of the "hotels" in Jasper are not very good - one secret spot right in downtown Jasper is the three rooms located behind and above the Ozark Cafe, which also happens to be the best place to eat in the area.
Much of the United States was at the bottom of the ocean at one time. The "Ozark Dome" was uplifted 50-70 million years ago out of the sea and this plateau has eroded down ever since - so the valleys are the eroded parts while the flat tops were the ocean floor, although the ocean floor is really hundreds, if not thousands of feet thick in this area (made of sandstone and limestone), all of it laid down at the bottom of the ocean at one time. Pretty standard geology stuff.

Guess I could string you on longer but one of the options that you mentioned was correct.
Haw Creek Falls at Haw Creek Campground, the OHT goes right by it...

Re: Where was this picture taken?
it's only a bit west of the Big Piney creek at Ft Douglas. Popular river running section downstream of there from Treat to Longpool.
I started to not put the name
more! more! I can't find one I wanted to post.

Re: Where was this picture taken?
Back when I took that pic I wasn't quite sure were it was. Now looking at a FS map
it is right of the FS road between Little Mo falls and Hwy 8. Yes I do believe it is on
Crooked Creek. The water was really roaring that day!
This pic of the Little Mo falls was taken the same day:

Re: Where was this picture taken?
The only place I have ever seen like that was a section of the Natches(sp?) Trace.

Re: Where was this picture taken?
No clue where that is. I got an old road section in my backyard that looks like it.... minus the tree. Well... actually it is still full of tornadoed trees at present.
