Need Help... backpackers out there
A college kid I know and 2 of his friends hiked in to the Twin Falls area on Friday and are supposed to hike out today (Sunday). Anyone know how much snow and ice was dumped up there? I can't seem to find any info. I am really nly concerned for them driving out in a 2wd vehicle on those steep curvy backroads that go on for miles out of Richland Creek. They are hunters and used to the outdoors, so I am not really worried about them (although I hope they prepared for the COLD). I just have no idea what those roads in the backcountry are like right now. Thanks.

If I'm not mistaken, that area is in Searcy County. I would try contactng the Searcy County sheriff's office at 870-448-2340 and ask them about the weather and road conditions. You may also want to alert them about their situation.

Thanks. Just heard from them... they are out and headed home... my concern came from our 8 inches of snow here in TN (when 2 inches was predicted). I knew that the guys did not prepare for that! All is ok now.

I cancelled church this morning after slidding around on the roads last night, and then I woke up to a beautiful sunny morning . We had services today at 2:00, but all the weather last night sure did take me by surprise, I am glad that I wasn't out in it up here. I am glad that they are safe, and now they will have a great story to tell.
Story
Nobody ever sits around the campfire talking about the trip where nothing happened. Love hearing a good story. Glad everybody is OK.
