Trail maintance done on:
1/3/09
Ouachita Trail section 2 AR/OK state line to FR514 3 miles round trip.

Ouachita Trail Section 3 talimena drive to Wizard Trees 2.8 miles round trip.

Both trails total: 5.8 miles

Both trails are adopted by us. Did normal maintance, lopping, cut out one tree and moved another tree. Chain saw crew had to cut out one widow maker. Was reported on 1/9/09.

On 1/3/09 ouachita hiker and I did regular trail maintance to our two sections of the Ouachita Trail.
Ar/Ok state line to FR514 3 miles out and back round trip
Talimena Scenic Drive to the Wizard Trees 2.8 miles out and back

Total of 5.8 miles

I did lots of lopping, the section from the scenic drive to the wizard trees hasn't had trail work done in a couple of years.

1-2-09 Buckeye Trail Hiked a little over half way and back to the trailhead.

Total of 5 miles with 40 pound pack


1-17-09 Millwood State park both trails Waterfowl Way 1.5 miles & wildlife lane 4 miles

Total 5.5 miles with 40 pound pack

Grand total of 10.5 miles

Caney Creek Wilderness Trail
East Trail head to Katy Falls
Trail maintance done:
Ed and I cut out what amounted to four trees,
one tree top and two LARGE tree trunks and one smaller tree. Trail is now cleared again!
Also after lunch at Katy falls we lopped aprox. 1.5 miles heading back to the E. trail head.

Total miles: 8.2

Speaking or Ed, we both say thanks! AS far as the milage it is very hard to do lots of miles and do work such as we did today. This is hard work! For instance the E. trail of the Caney system now is COMPLETLY CLEAR! At least till another tree falls! I took some pics but they wont go on the server till atlest Monday. By the TM I do feel like a invalid explores! By the way folks I didn't have any problems with my Right heal so I feel real good about that.

worked to first Caney Creek Crossing E. of Cossotot River
Encountered large pines across trail and hiked back to Cossotot River.

Eagle Gap/Clear Fork mile 58.5 to mile marker 64
Helped Mark clear his section of the OT (Mile 61 to 64)
Cut trees, limbs, cleared ice storm damage, cut more briars than you would encounter in a hikers life time!
11 miles round trip

Total for the three days: 19 miles of trail maintance!

Hiked up old logging roads, very grown up, and followed creek to it's source.
Found the source a spring!
