Thought you'd like to see a good test of the REI waterproof matches.

Re: REI Waterproof/Windproof matches tested!
UL,
That was a neat test! I have been carrying around for years the basic wal mart variety water proof matches. I have been thinking about adding a firesteel/fire starter. What do you or any here use?
thanks,
OH

I carry a swedish firesteel everywhere I go. Light My Fire brand, the ARMY model. See it here: LINK
The important thing with these things is PRACTICE. They aren't that easy to use, so practice with a wide variety of materials until you feel confident about starting a fire with it.

Jason has some good stuff... he has a couple of blogs if anyone wants to follow them at http://jasonklass.blogspot.com/ and http://www.freewebs.com/jasonklass/index.htm . The first one is the one he keeps updating. Also if your looking at gear test and things http://www.woodsmonkey.com/. Though its really kind of more bushcraft or survial, its still a GREAT gear test web. Just a FYI.
