Ok folks this will be the last of these posts for awile! Yesterday Mark (ar.hiker), son of ouachita hiker (Bryan) and myself worked again on the Caney Creek trail. We (actually Mark) cut one tree that we had only made one cut thru the previous week and got the section of tree off the trail. Now no steping over at that point. Also the previous week we had left a very large pine in it's place and you could go under it. Now it is cut on one side and you can go over on one side (very carefully!) we still need to repair the tread at his point, to come later.

The main work was from the junction of the buckeye and caney trail to the West. Here we cleared to the first crossing of caney creek W. of the junction. It took probably 3 or more hours to go this distance which I think is a little under a mile. We had one tree after another down. We cut thru one large hikory tree that took aprox. 45 mins.! I think that this is the worst of it. If anyone hikes in from the west I would like to know the conditon of the trail from the Cossatot to this crossing of Caney creek. It will be quite awile before I get to it but when we do we will come in from the West.

I would like to say that this was the first overnight bping trip that my son and I have every been on. He learned alot and worked very hard. We will make many more trips in the future!

OH

I will post pictures later..
