Clubs or Org.

Just curious to see if any of you guys are involved in or otherwise members of, current or have been in any Hiking, Camping Backpacking ect. clubs or orgs? I myself am a member of American Hiking Socity, I use to be involved in the Serria Club, untill they started becoming a little to politically motavated for me. I understand and agree that we need people in place to give us a voice but the steps they take and at a forsaking all for it... I had to remove my name.. many years ago. They may have changed but I got a bad taste in my mouth and cant taste that water anymore.... lol. Other than that I am involved with the Memphis Hikers Group on www.meetups.com. Anyone else have any affeliations?

I'm a backpacking leader for the Dallas Sierra Club and I understand the politics problem. Personally I try to separate the politics from the backpacking. And actually it works for me. It's a good source of packing partners and a good way to introduce younger people to our passion,which in the end is the only way to
ensure that backpacking will live forever.
So no matter who you go with,get out there and have fun!

When I was in college I was active in the Ozark Society. Stayed a member for a few years after college.
Now am a member of FoOT. Don't know if that qualifies. Have done alot of trail work since that time.
I just wish the fuel prices would abate and the wife, outlawpacker, and I would actually like to do more.
