What's for breakfast??? Empty What's for breakfast???

Wanted to start this so we could hear what everyone packs for breakfast on their trips. Here's mine:

2 cups - Sunbelt Fruit & Nut Granola Cereal
3 Tablespoons - Nido Powdered Whole Milk
1/4 cup - Dried Blueberries
Put all of this in a qt. ziplock bag before leaving the house.
In camp, add about 1/2-3/4 cup water.
Mix and enjoy.

The great thing about this breakfast is that not only does it taste great, but it only weighs about 6 oz., and, best of all, will give you over 1000 calories of fuel for a great start to a day of hiking.

That sounds good. I am not of a big breakfast eater at home or on the trail. I am one of those weird types that can start right out with nothing but a drink and hike full of energy right up to snack time. At snack I eat a mixture of nuts and dried fruit. I will try that though it sounds good. There was where I was drinking protein shakes in the morning from GNC. Wow, what a blast of energy that gave me, to much almost, if I was hiking with someone they were always telling me to slow down.

What's for breakfast??? Empty Break---FAST!

Post by willky1 Wed May 07, 2008 12:49 pm

This meal was quick and easy. What I usually eat is some oats. I get some oats, brown sugar, and cinnamon all in a quart freezer bag. Boil some water up, pour it in, and by the time camp is taken down, you have breakfast. Quick, easy and it almost makes itself. What more could you want? Unlike snow, I have to have breakfast or I'm worthless until snack time. I also make cowboy coffee with my heiny pot, but that isn't food so I won't talk about that here.

I have one time tried to do a little muffin baking. It was a little hard, but I got the hang of it and the muffins actually came out edible. It wasn't easy or fast, but they were pretty good.

Nothing elaborate just quaker instant oatmeal. Although we have done pancakes. I have been trying to lighten the load,
esp. the food bag.
