Pigeon Roost Trail
I have started hiking with my five year old son Colby. He loves camping and always gets excited when I tell him about my stories of the backcountry. On sunday I took him to Hobbs State Park not far from where I live and hiked the Pigeon Roost Trail with him. It is a great trail to start out with for it is not that hilly but is real nice. It crosses an overlook of Beaver Lake and there are some primitve campsites up on a ridge which is real pretty. I love being so close to some trail systems that I can break him into the joy of backcountry travel. We had a good day in the sun, ate lunch by the lake and shared some quality time together. Next time I told him we would camp at one of the sites.
