Local Knowledge Needed

I am planning a trip and looking for suggestions on the best 40 mile (approximately) section to hit around mid May. Also looking for local knowledge on:
weather (temperature, precipitation) and crowds (although I'm not worried) for May

Also what are the major differences between hiking the OHT and the Ozark Trail in Missouri?
