I'm thinking about heading down to Devil's Backbone (West Plains, MO) in the morning and checking it out. I talked to Jay a little about it already but if anyone else has any knowledge of the area I'd appreciate it.

Hey Darreth,
Let me know how Devils Backbone was, it is amazing how many outdoor destinations start with the word Devil's, Devils Den, Devils Kitchen, Devils Tower, Devils Hand, etc. etc.

I didn't go. I mapped it last night and it was like 2.5 hrs. I thought it was a lot closer. Gas prices are keeping me down man.

That's along with out-of-state grad school prices and trying to save a little for the upcoming wedding.

Gas prices, well actually diesel now, is one of the reasons that the wife and I moved to Dierks when we had the chance. We are 38 miles from the Caney Creek East trailhead. You can figure that all of the other ones are close also. All of my travels are from the OT and south.
