Arkansas Backcountry Shutting Down

Thu Nov 11, 2010 10:33 pm by Jay

I contacted several people about taking over the site, and no one seemed able to take on the responsibility.

I've apparently lost a few friends over my inaction on this site, so I'll be closing it. It isn't worth that.

If there's any information you'd like to have from the forums, they'll remain open for a while to give folks a chance.

To everyone who contributed here, with all my heart, Thank You.

Take care,
Jay

A Moment of Silence for a Fallen Friend

Tue Apr 20, 2010 10:29 am by Jay

As you all probably know by now, a hiker fell to his death near Hawksbill Crag today.

Please honor a moment of silence at high noon today in honor of our fallen friend. He was a hiker, that's enough to make him a friend to ABC.

And please, PLEASE be safe out there.

Welcome back everyone. Sorry about the down time. I've been really busy lately and haven't made time to mend fences around here. It's spring time now, so you should definately be seeing more of me around here and I'll get things back in order.

Again, sorry everyone.

It may take awhile, but I'll try to get the scores tallied and post the final results around the 1st of the year sometime. Just didn't want you to think I totally forgot about it just because I contributed almost nothing to my team...Sorry guys!!!

BFC Score Updates Coming Soon!

Mon Apr 13, 2009 2:16 pm by Jay

Hey gang!

I'm glad to hear that everyone is okay after the nasty weather. Whew, that was close!

I've been very busy and haven't had much time on here lately. I'll be updating the BFC scores (and adding some of my own mileage. Yay!) and generally trying to get caught up around here!

See you all soon!

BFC 2009 Current Score

Tue Feb 17, 2009 11:00 pm by Jay

I'll design a fancy scoreboard one of these days, but for now I thought you guys might want to know which team is in the lead:

Intrepid Explorers: 192.5 Total Miles / 75 Overnight backpacking Miles

Trail Stompers: 186.5 Total Miles / 115.5 Overnight Backpacking Miles

As of right now, the Intrepids are ahead, but the Stompers are vying for the backpacking perk come April 1st!

NOTE: I decided to reduce the multiplication factor for trail maintenance to 2 instead of 3. I certainly don't mean to punish the trail workers but I'm afraid the factor of 3 may …
